midwest college & coffee tour (part 1)

My wife and I took our son on a college tour during his spring break last week. In a sign of increased personal maturity and growth, before we left I acknowledged to them that my coffee obsessions may have at times imposed upon them when we travel (cough cough). So I made an offer, which was accepted: in each city I would pick only one coffee shop to visit and make a thorough inspection as fodder for a blog post, and I would make sure it was not out of the way.

guest mini-review: Amargosa Café

Ed: This review is written by my friend Rachel Hayden, whom you may remember from our recent gambol at Car Wash Coffee. Hope you enjoy a different voice.

a case study in coffeenomics

I was a bit saddened today, as for the first time I had to mark one of the coffee shops in my guide as closed.

Spiral Press Cafe in Manchester, VT is no more. In fact, it seems to have closed mere days after I visited it this past August. The owner wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper giving his view on why the business went under.
