midwest college & coffee tour (part 1)

My wife and I took our son on a college tour during his spring break last week. In a sign of increased personal maturity and growth, before we left I acknowledged to them that my coffee obsessions may have at times imposed upon them when we travel (cough cough). So I made an offer, which was accepted: in each city I would pick only one coffee shop to visit and make a thorough inspection as fodder for a blog post, and I would make sure it was not out of the way.

All I know is that when/if I finally get around to throwing together my doomsday go-bag, there’s going to be a second one with my KeepCup, Aeropress, hand grinder, and a ton of quality coffee beans.

Salt & Pepper Diner Essential Song of the Day for 4/5

I didn’t particularly care for this song when it came out, back when dinosaurs ruled the earth. Too corny, too mainstream. I mean, look at the hair on these guys, particularly the lead singer. And c’mon now, the album title? Pfffft.

But sometimes things that are mainstream and popular can still be really damned good, as I now realize is the case with this song. Give a listen to this one 21x in a row and you just might agree.
